60 seconds of research reveals that the pattern I’m working on is indeed based on this 1951 quilt by Florence Peto. The original pattern is available from Hoopla. It is still only 39″ by 49″ and consists of 9 patches that are only 3″ finished. The version I’m working on has blocks that are 4 1/2″ finished and 32″ square. Since it’s intended to be done by machine it is obviously not as intricate as the original appears to be. Very cool. Am I tempted to get the original pattern? Indeed. But let’s face it, I would never really be able to tackle that one!
